Four Levels of Nice Guy™

There are 4 levels to Nice Guys™, from almost harmless to straight-up dangerous to their targets. I will discuss the 4 Levels I have seen throughout the years and the major characteristics of each. Within each of the Levels, is a spectrum in which Nice Guys™ can climb up and down as well as jump from Level to Level, but one thing that remains consistent throughout is the streak of narcissism that drives their actions.

Level 1 Nice Guy™

Level 1 Nice Guys™, rarely know that they are Nice Guys™. In fact, you probably know a lot of these guys, often teenagers and young adults fall into this category while they test out social waters. But they aren’t intentionally deceptive, they aren’t actively trying to trick anyone. More than anything they are fooling themselves.

For example, a guy shows up with a bunch of roses to a group coffee meet-up thinking it was a date, he often misinterprets a polite conversation for flirting, is overbearing by being too eager to move forward with a relationship, misreads the room assuming connections that weren’t made, etc.

Level 1 Nice Guys™ often misinterpreting social cues.
